New Garden Season

The plot is located in Linfield, PA and historically the gardening zone has been 6b. Yet in the beginning of 2023 our zone was changed to 7. Rule of thumb in this area is you're good to plant outside once Mother's Day hits. Over the years I've been putting seedlings out earlier and earlier. This year had no exception. I think I could have planted before May, it was so warm! Thus far I'm not even 100% planted! All month I have been an anxious mess because I am off schedule. You see, planning a garden from seed is no easy task. Some seeds have long germination periods, some need cold stratification, some need heat mats, etc. With all the variations for different seed varieties it can be time consuming. This year I also decided to take the commitment of playing rugby. I haven't played spring rugby since 2016. Well that doesn't count a pop up B side game or an alumni game. I decided in the fall to be serious and have this year potentially be my last year playing rugby. But we had such a wonderful set of coaches and a stellar team we ended up qualifying for nationals. That means that my rugby season was extended and was heavily conflicting with the gardening season. I am part of the Phoenixville Women's White Horse Rugby team and we made #2 in the nation, how exciting! Last week we went to TX for the championship and now the season has concluded. I'm now in damage control mode getting the plot ready for the U-pick. Every night for the past week we've gone to the plot and have hand sown thousands of seeds. It is tedious, tiring, and time consuming. Though in a couple weeks the plot will be exploding with pops of colors everywhere. We worked hard this winter planning, designing, and creating fun activities to bring to our community. Stay tuned for plot updates!
